Our members share wide-ranging interests in the history and preservation of antique radio. Through our meetings and newsletters, we discuss the collection, restoration and appreciation of vintage hardware, old wireless communications systems and archaic technologies, their obsolescence notwithstanding.
This year Canada celebrates * 100 years * of broadcasting!
On the evening of May 20 1920, Montreal station XWA broadcast the first scheduled live entertainment radio program in Canada and possibly North America.
The station would continue on the air for many decades as CFCF and eventually CIQC.
The Emile Berliner Musée des Ondes and the Société Québécoise des Collectionneurs de Radios Anciens (SQCRA) have co-organized a Centennial of Broadcasting in Canada. The several events and activities include a Walking Tour of historic, Radio Broadcasting locations in Montreal. Please visit the Emile Berliner Musée des Ondes.
